How to analyse a mock test so your score actually improves
By Sarkari Match Editorial · 28 Oct 2026 · 1 min read
Many aspirants take a mock, look at the score and move on. The score is the least useful part of the result. The review is where the improvement happens.
Step 1: Sort every mistake
Put each wrong or skipped question in one of four groups:
- Did not know the concept
- Knew it but made a calculation or reading error
- Ran out of time
- Guessed and got it wrong
The group tells you what to fix. A concept gap needs study. A careless error needs a slower, cleaner method. A time problem needs a different order of attempting.
Step 2: Check accuracy by section and topic
A section score hides detail. Look at accuracy by topic and find the two or three topics that cost you the most. Practise those before taking the next full mock.
Step 3: Read the solution even for questions you got right
A correct answer reached the long way costs time. The solution often shows a faster route you can reuse.
Step 4: Write down one change for the next test
One specific change is enough: attempt reasoning first, skip any question that takes more than a minute on the first pass, or revise percentage shortcuts. Check next time whether it worked.
Every test on Sarkari Match shows section-wise and topic-wise analysis with a solution for each question, so you can follow these steps straight from your result page.
